【摘要】:EMATtechniquesshowbenefitsandadvantagesoverconventionalpiezoelectricultrasonictechniquesinspecialapplicationswhereflexibilityinthetypeofwavemodegenerationisdesired.EMATsarehighlyefficientinthegenerationofsurfacewaves.SinceEMATsarehighlyefficientinthegenerationofsurfacewaves,andsinceacoustictechniquesutilizingsurfacewavesareproveneffectivefordetectingsurfaceandnear-surfacediscontinuities,theyshouldbeconsideredforanyapplicationswhereconventionalpenetranttestingandmagneticparticleNDTtechniquesareeffectivebutundesirable.SinceEMATtechniquesarenon-contacting,theyshouldbeconsideredforultrasonicexaminationswhereapplicationsinvolveautomation,high-speedinspections,movingobjects,applicationsinremoteorhazardouslocations,applicationstoobjectsatelevatedtemperatures,orobjectswithroughsurfaces.ThepurposeofthistestmethodistopromotetheEMATtechniqueoftheultrasonicmethodasaviablealternativetoconventionalPTandMPTmethodsfordetectingthepresenceofsurfaceandnear-surfacematerialdiscontinuities.TheuseofEMATsandtheselectionofappropriateoperatingparameterspresupposeaknowledgeofthegeometryofthecomponent;theprobablelocation,size,orientation,andreflectivityoftheexpectedflaws;theallowablerangeofEMATlift-off;andthelawsofphysicsgoverningthepropagationofultrasonicwaves.ThisprocedurepertainstoaspecificEMATsurfaceinspectionapplication.1.1ThistestmethodcoversguidelinesforutilizingEMATtechniquesfordetectingmaterialdiscontinuitiesthatareprimarilyopentothesurface(forexample,cracks,seams,laps,coldshuts,laminations,throughleaks,lackoffusion).Thistechniquecanbesensitivetoflawsanddiscontinuitiesthatarenotsurface-breaking,providedtheirproximitytothesurfaceislessthanorequaltotheRayleighwavelength.1.2Thistestmethodcoversproceduresforthenon-contactcouplingofsurfacewavesintoamaterialviaelectromagneticfields.1.3Theproceduresofthistestmethodareapplicabletoanymaterialinwhichacousticwavescanbeintroducedelectromagnetically.Thisincludesanymaterialthatiseitherelectricallyconductiveorferromagnetic,orboth.1.4Thistestmethodisintendedtoprovideexaminationcapabilitiesforin-process,final,andmaintenanceapplications.1.5Thistestmethoddoesnotprovidestandardsfortheevaluationofderivedindications.Interpretation,classification,andultimateevaluationofindications,albeitnecessary,arebeyondthescopeofthisdocument.Separatespecificationsoragreementwillbenecessarytodefinethetype,size,location,anddirectionofindicationsconsideredacceptableornon-acceptable.1.6Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandards.TheSIunitsgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.7Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
