【摘要】:Thistestmethodprovidesfordeterminingthereleaseratesofheatandvisiblesmoke(Note1)frommaterials,products,orassemblieswhenexposedtodifferentlevelsofradiantheat.Note1-Visiblesmokeisdescribedintermsoftheobscurationoftransmittedlightcausedbycombustionproductsreleasedduringthetests(see14.2.1).Thisfire-test-responsemethodassessesheatreleasebyathermalmethod,thermopile,usingaradiantheatsourcecomposedofanarrayoffourelectricalresistanceelements.Thistestmethodprovidesforradiantthermalexposureofaspecimenbothwithandwithoutapilot.Pilotedignitionresultsfromdirectflameimpingementonthespecimen(piloted,pointignition)orfromuseofthepilottoignitegasesevolvedbypyrolysisofthespecimen.Heatandsmokereleasearemeasuredfromthemomentthespecimenisinjectedintoacontrolledexposurechamber.Themeasurementsarecontinuedduringtheperiodofignition(andprogressiveflameinvolvementofthesurfaceinthecaseofpointignition),andtosuchatimethatthetestisterminated.TheapparatusdescribedinthistestmethodisoftenreferredtoastheOhioStateUniversity(OSU)rateofheatreleaseapparatus.ConfigurationsAandBarevariationsontheoriginaldesign.Thistestmethodissuitableforexposingessentiallyplanarmaterials,productsorassembliestoaconstant,imposedexternalheatfluxthatrangesfrom0to80kW/m.Thistestmethodisintendedforuseinresearchanddevelopmentandnotasabasisforrating,regulatory,orcodepurposes.Theapparatusdescribedinthistestmethodhasbeenusedintwoconfigurations.ConfigurationAisthatwhichisusedbytheFederalAviationAdministrationforassessingmaterialsforaircraftuse,atanexternalheatfluxof35kW/m(DOT/FAA/AR-00/12),whileconfigurationBissuitable,atvariousincidentheatfluxes,forresearchanddevelopmentpurposes.Thistestmethoddoesnotprovideinformationonthefireperformanceofthetestspecimensunderfireconditionsotherthanthoseconditionsspecifiedinthistestmethod.KnownlimitationsofthistestmethodaredescribedinHeatandsmokereleaseratesdependonanumberoffactors,includingtheformationofsurfacechar,theformationofanadherentash,samplethickness,andthemethodofmounting.Heatreleasevaluesareafunctionofthespecificspecimensize(exposedarea)tested.Resultsarenotdirectlyscaleabletodifferentexposedsurfaceareasforsomeproducts.Thetestmethodislimitedtothespecifiedspecimensizesofmaterials,products,orassemblies.Ifproductsaretobetested,thetestspecimenshallberepresentativeoftheproductinactualuse.Thetestislimitedtoexposureofonesurface;theoptionsforexposedsurfaceareverticalandhorizontalfacingup.Atveryhighspecimenheatreleaserates,itispossiblethatflamingisobservedabovethestack,whichmakesthetestinvalid.Nogeneralrelationshiphasbeenestablishedbetweenheatreleaseratevaluesobtainedfromhorizontallyandverticallyorientedspecimens.Specimensthatmeltanddripintheverticalorientationshallbetestedhorizontally.UsetheSIsystemofunitsinrefereedecisions;seeIEEE/ASTMSI-10.Firetestingofproductsandmaterialsisinherentlyhazardous,andadequatesafeguardsforpersonnelandpropertyshallbeemployedinconductingthesetests.Firetestinginvolveshazardousmaterials,operations,andequipment.SeeSection6.
